Sports Trivia (Cricket)

Some people think that cricket is about batting and bowling only. In fact, it requires physical strength and intelligence. Do you know which was the longest cricket match in history?

The longest recorded cricket match was a battle between England and South Africa team that was held from 3 March to 14 March 1939. It lasted for 43 hours and 16 minutes and being included into the Guinness book of world record. Both teams made an agreement before the game that there would not a limitation on the number of overs. South Africa also set a target score of 696 runs for England to achieve. The competition was fierce and both teams could not claim the victory after nine days of competition. However, England had to leave soon as their scheduled ship back home would be leaving shortly. On the final competition day, England scored 654, but there were still 5 more players to go. The match ended in a draw with 1981 runs and 5447 deliveries.
