65^th Festival of Sport - Gateball Open Championship for Evergreen Shield will be held closed-door on 19 June, 26 June, and 10 July (Sunday) at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground.

When we walk through a park, sometimes we can see a few people holding a T-shaped bat and trying to deliver the ball into a croquet gate. This sport is called gateball! Do you know the basic rule of a gateball competition?

Players are divided into two teams (red team and white team) in a gateball competition. A number is assigned to each player and the player needs to hit the ball of the corresponding number throughout the game. The game begins with player 1 and other players hit the ball in an ascending order. All of them target to get through Gate 1, 2, 3, and hit the goal-pole with the ball. Each player can hit the ball once in each turn. An extra hit will be given when the ball passes a Gate or hits another ball on the field. Gateball is a team sport that players are required to assist their teammates to score or drive the opposing team out of the court by their offending and defending tactics. The competition lasts for 30 minutes. The team with a higher score becomes the winner. If all the players from the same team hit the goal-pole with their own balls, the team can claim the victory immediately.
