"Let’s Get Moving Together and Enjoy Sports!" The 68th Festival of Sport Kicks Off Bringing Citywide Sports Excitement from April to August
Organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the 68th Festival of Sport (FOS) officially launched today (11 April 2025). With the theme "Let’s Get Moving Together and Enjoy Sports!", the festival aims to promote sports for all, encourage regular exercise among the public, foster family bonding and holistic wellness through sports.
The Festival of Sport Carnival will be held over two days from 12 to 13 April at Tsuen Wan DPARK, featuring over 10 sports trial activities, including Olympic and emerging sports, alongside stage performances and sports demonstrations, as well as photo-taking spots. This carnival offers a variety of sports experiences for enthusiasts, beginners, families, and youth alike.
SF&OC has appointed LEE Sze Wing (Cycling), LEE Man Nga (Handball) and YIU Kam Shing (Rugby) as this year’s FOS ambassadors. They filmed a promotional video for the FOS and shared their own sports journeys. LEE Sze Wing fondly recalled her childhood experience in a track cycling event at the FOS. She said sports could help relieve stress and benefit both physical and mental health. As an ambassador, she hoped to inspire more people to participate in sports. LEE Man Nga encouraged members of the public to take full advantage of community sports facilities. She added that the FOS provided a variety of sporting experiences that allowed the public to discover their interests and build a healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, YIU Kam Shing, speaking as a father, shared how sports positively contributed to children’s development, particularly in communication and teamwork through group sports.
Beyond sports trials, the carnival also hosts the 15th National Games thematic booth to raise public awareness. In his opening remarks, Mr Timothy FOK, President of SF&OC, said, “This year marks the historic co-hosting of the National Games by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Riding on this FOS, with the theme ‘Let’s Get Moving Together and Enjoy Sports!’, we are collaborating closely with the LCSD to promote greater community participation in sports. This festival helps build the momentum for the National Games in November. We hope the public will stay tuned for the Games and rally behind our athletes as they prepare for this significant competition.”
From April to August, SF&OC and affiliated National Sports Associations (NSAs) will organise over 50 sports activities across different districts in Hong Kong. These include competitions, community fun days and interactive sessions tailored to different age groups. The four enhanced events are the “Sports for All Fun Day”, “Family Sports Game 2025”, “Hong Kong Shuttlecock Fun Day” and “Flying Disc Fun Day”, all free of charge for the public to enjoy. The FOS is set to offer the perfect opportunity for sports enthusiasts, beginners or families to explore a wide range of sports activities with different intensity levels, allowing them to “play, try, and enjoy” sports in a fun and engaging way.
Following the Opening Ceremony, the Presentation Ceremony of SF&OC Incentive Awards & Junior Incentive Awards 2024 was held. Over HK$2.5 million was granted to NSAs in recognition of their contributions to the development of sports over the past year.
