"One Line of Energy, A City in Motion" The 69th Festival of Sport Officially Launches Inspiring a Citywide Wave of Sports from April to August Organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the 69th Festival of Sport (FOS) officially launched today (10 April 2026) with an Opening Ceremony cum Carnival, marking the start of a vibrant, citywide celebration of sports. Officiating guests at the Opening Ceremony included Dr. Timothy FOK, President of SF&OC, and Ms. Manda CHAN, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, who jointly kicked off a dynamic programme of activities set to energise the city in the months ahead. With the theme "One Line of Energy, A City in Motion", this year's FOS aims to bring sports closer to the community and promote "sport for all", encouraging people from all walks of life to embrace active lifestyles and experience the joy of movement together. The FOS Carnival will take place over two days (11-12 April) at Kowloon Park Sports Centre, offering the public a one-stop platform to explore sports through over 10 interactive sports trials, alongside dynamic stage performances and sports demonstrations. Participants can immerse themselves in a wide range of sports. The Team Hong Kong mascot, Rock, will make a special appearance to engage with the public and share the joy of sports. In his opening remarks, Dr. Timothy FOK, President of SF&OC, said, "The Festival of Sport features over 50 diverse sports events across all districts of Hong Kong, putting the 'sport for all' goal into practice. Through rich sporting experiences, we aim to inspire the public to try different sports and develop an exercise routine, injecting positive energy into the community." SF&OC has appointed TSANG Cham Yuen (Basketball), LAM Yi Nok (Table Tennis) and Hayley CHAN (Windsurfing) as Ambassadors for the 69th FOS. They will participate in various sports activities and share their sporting journeys to encourage the public to build healthy lifestyles. From April to August, SF&OC and affiliated National Sports Associations (NSAs) will organise various sports activities across different districts in Hong Kong, catering to participants of all ages and abilities. Whether for sports enthusiasts, beginners or families, FOS offers diverse opportunities to explore different sports and embrace active living. The five enhanced events are "Shuttlecock Fun Day", "Battle of the Minds - Chinese Chess Fun Day", "Family Sports Game 2026", "Sport for All Fun Day" and "VRC Wave and Aim Summer Festival", all free of charge for the public to enjoy. Following the Opening Ceremony, the Presentation Ceremony of SF&OC Incentive Awards & Junior Incentive Awards 2025 was held.
