FOS Exhibition commences from today until 30 May at THE FOREST to showcase a number of valuable sports & Olympic related collections.

The 64th FOS Grassroot Football Festival will take place on 6 June at Lok Fu Recreation Ground Artificial Turf Soccer Pitch. Public may register on FOS’ website now.

FOS Virtual Sports Carnival will be extended to 23 July for the public to visit the sports booths and watch the sports demonstration videos.
The 64th Festival of Sport (FOS), organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and subvented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department, have been organizing various events together with the National Sports Associations (NSAs). Using the slogan of “NEW OR NORMAL!” and having successfully held the first virtual sports carnival in late April, FOS will further its promotion activities into the community, including the 64th FOS Exhibition Tour at THE FOREST that is started today and the Grassroot Football Festival co-organized by Hong Kong Football Association on 6 June (Sunday). These events aim to promote Sport for All and uplift the sports atmosphere to welcome the Tokyo Olympics.

The 64th FOS Exhibition Tour commenced at THE FOREST to crave the sports history and culture of Hong Kong
This year’s FOS continue to bring sports into our community. Starting from today until the 30 May, the 64th FOS Exhibition Tour has been opened at THE FOREST in Mong Kok to showcase various pieces of valuable collections related to sports and Olympics. One of these items is the Olympic torch of 2008 Beijing Olympic from Mr. Timothy Fok, the President of SF&OC, with the autograph of the then President of the International Olympic Committee, Count Jacques Rogge. In addition, Hongkong Post has lent a few Olympic stamps for display. Public can appreciate the collections and understand more about the history and development of sports in Hong Kong through the exhibition. Public may get FOS souvenirs on site by following FOS newly launched Instagram page. Limited souvenirs will be distributed on first-come-first-served basis.

FOS Grassroot Football Festival – encourage the public to live active life from childhood
The Grassroot Football Festival will be held on 6 June (Sunday) at Lok Fu Recreation Ground Artificial Turf Soccer Pitch to encourage the public to play sports since childhood and live an active and healthy life. The Grassroot Football Festival includes U6, U8, U10 & U12 football competition trial and game booths with dribbling game and shooting game, etc. The event is free for admission and welcome children aged 5 – 12 to join. Public may login to FOS’ website (https://fos.hkolympic.org/zh/programme/event-list) now for registration and to get more information about the event. The registration is on first-come-first-served basis. Registration will be closed when quotas are full.

Mr. Tony YUE Kwok-leung, Chairperson of Festival of Sport Organizing Committee, said, “In this Olympic year, FOS would like to further promote sports and uplift the sports atmosphere in the society while welcoming the Tokyo Olympic. This year, FOS also enhanced the support to the events co-organized by the NSAs and encouraged them to organize different sports events with an aim to motivate the public to participate in more sports events under the “New Normal”. Taking the Grassroot Football Festival co-organized by the Hong Kong Football Association as an example, we hope that parents can bring their children to the event and enjoy the fun of doing sports together. The FOS Exhibition Tour that have been launched at THE FOREST is also a good family activity for the public to understand the proud history of sports development in Hong Kong. We aim to continue to promote “Sport for All” through these series of promotion activities.

The first-ever Virtual Sports Carnival was held in late April, with 20 sports booths and sports demonstration videos prepared by NSAs and sponsor. The public can now continue to visit this one-stop virtual platform to access the information of NSAs as the Virtual Sports Carnival platform has been extended to 23 July, the Opening day of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The sports booths will be updated from time to time. Registered participants may continue to visit the Virtual Carnival using their own designated link. The platform is also open for public who have not registered via the link: http://bit.ly/FOSVirtualCarnival.
